DIY Guide: How to Install Kickplates in Your Business or Home
Posted by TheKickPlateStore on 7th Mar 2023
Kickplates are a practical addition to any business or home, as they protect doors from scratches and dents caused by shoes or other objects. Installing a kickplate is a simple process that can be completed in just a few steps. Here’s how:
What You’ll Need:
- Kickplate
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Drill
- Screws
- Screwdriver
- Level
Step 1: Measure the door
Using a measuring tape, measure the height and width of the door where you want to install the kickplate. This determines the size of kickplate you’ll need to buy.
Step 2: Choose the kickplate
Choose a kickplate that fits the size of the door and matches the decor of the space. Kickplates come in a variety of materials, such as stainless steel, brass, or bronze. Make sure the kickplate is at least 6 inches tall to provide adequate damage protection.
Step 3: Mark the door
Using a pencil, mark the placement of the kickplate on the door. Place the kickplate at the bottom of the door, with the top of the kickplate about 6 inches from the floor. Use a level to ensure the kickplate is straight.
Step 4: Drill pilot holes
Using a drill, drill pilot holes where you marked the placement of the kickplate. Make sure the drill bit is slightly smaller than the screws you will use to attach the kickplate.
Step 5: Attach the kickplate
Align the holes on the kickplate with the pilot holes you drilled on the door. Insert the screws into the holes and use a screwdriver to tighten them, making sure the kickplate is securely attached to the door.
Step 6: Clean up the area
Use a soft cloth to clean any debris or dust that may have accumulated during the installation process.
